We at KR8 love talking to the design community, connect, collaborate, and share some love and appreciation for the core of what it takes to be out there: brain, guts, heart, (this sounds like a horror movie but I promise it isn't), uniqueness, charisma, nerve, and talent. In this post we'd like to introduce five friendly creatives, and outstanding talents in their field.
NAME: Lukas Diemling
WHERE ARE YOU FROM: Graz, Austria
BORN WHEN: 20—05—1997
WORK FOCUS: Art Direction, Branding, Editorial, Poster, Photography and Typedesign
1 — HOW
WOULD YOU
DESCRIBE
YOUR WORK?
A strong idea is always the starting point, which leads to different visual expression depending on the project. My work is driven by a strong usage of typography, and thoughtfully selected and customized type is mostly the core element of every project I do.
2 — DO YOU
HAVE A WORK
METHOD THAT
YOU VALUE?
If you don’t know how do it, you can’t do it wrong. Of course this can lead to horrible results, but most of the time the best results are the ones off the beaten path. In the design process everything is allowed. Because the rules we often follow when we design are not set in stone (or Helvetica), they are made up by humans, you always can and should do it differently.
And work isn’t everything. Having a life outside your job will make you a better person and designer.
3 — WHAT
SHOULD
DESIGN BECOME
IN THE FUTURE?
Less is more. Designers should be more aware of the impact on the environment of their work. We all love shinny foiling, but actually this stuff and printing in general is most of the time really bad for our environment. We need to rethink how we produce things and what we put out into the wonderful world surrounding us.
4 — THINGS
YOU DRAW
INSPIRATION
FROM?
Food and cooking is a huge inspiration for me, for me it's so similar to the design process in terms of creativity but at the same time it's something completely different where you can do something with your hands. And music all day long.
5 — A THING
YOU HAVE
LEARNED THAT
YOU WANT
TO PASS ON
TO FELLOW
CREATIVES
Your best project will always be the next one.
